What does a healthy lifestyle mean?
In this busy world it is not easy to define health or to live up to it, but we all are familiar with the tired, moody feeling, when our batteries run down. An unhealthy lifestyle means unbalanced mood, more illness and more expense to treat those illnesses, more time lost at work, less quality recreational time and even shorter lifespan. This means a much bigger burden on an already challenged health care system.
The good news is that these factors are depending on our lifestyle, and lifestyle habits are reversible, they depend only on you. Changing your unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one will lower your risk for cardiovascular disorders and other diseases, will lead you to a more balanced nutrition and self-environment.
Try a balanced cooking and eating style, make sure you have the proper intake of calories and basic elements, keep fresh food in your fridge, but try not to weigh as much as your fridge does. Quit smoking to avoid unnecessary toxic elements, lose weight only when needed, get enough exercise and try to feed your body with proper nutrition. It doesn’t take any expensive equipment to get your body moving, all you really need is a pair of high quality shoes and some comfortable clothes and that is the best way for weight loss. If you are out of shape, start with small steps, check with your doctor first and then evolve with time. Your exercise doesn't need to be hard core, walking, swimming, stretching are all good ways to burn calories and help you stay fit. It is one of the best ways to avoid health problems; you get your body in motion and will maintain a healthy weight in the same time. And the keys to healthy weight are regular exercise and good eating habits. Quite a nice circle, isn’t it?
Eat at least five or more fruits and vegetables every day, because they are an important part of a healthy diet. Combine them with whole grains, lean meats, low fat dairy products, nuts, seeds and legumes. Think it through first and then act: a piece of apple pie isn’t a healthy serving of fruit nor count French fries as a healthy vegetable. Eat lots of whole fruits and fresh vegetables or mix them as delicious salads and stay away from fast food and junk food.
You should be able to get all of your nutrients from your diet, but you may also benefit from taking a multiple-vitamin and mineral supplement. Have enough omega 3 fatty acids, CoQ10, basic vitamins, plant enzymes, trace minerals, antioxidant blends and herbal complexes.
Proper nutrition is a matter of getting enough of the right foods including vitamins and minerals a body needs to be and maintain proper health. Malnutrition, or the lack of proper nutrition, can be a serious problem for any of us, not considering age, social status or geographical situation. |
